Thursday, February 9th at 12PM: Onward, Soldiers

One of the most promising new releases we've heard so far this year is from Wilmington, NC band Onward, Soldiers.  It's a catchy blend of rock and Americana you can hear for yourself when they visit Studio B Thursday around Noon.

Friday, February 10th at 11AM: Solas

This Friday we are pleased to welcome one of the most played bands of traditional Irish music heard on WNCW -- or on just about any other station for that matter.  The 5-piece band Solas has evolved it's lineup over the years, consistently maintaining their adherence to tradition while branching out in contemporary directions.  They play Clover this Thursday and Asheville on Friday. 

Thursday, February 2nd at 3PM: Lydia Loveless

"An old soul in a 21 year-old’s body, Lydia Loveless sings about the kind of heartache usually reserved for someone working on her third marriage." - The Charleston Gazette.  Touring in support of her powerful release "Indestructible Machine", Loveless straddles somewhere between the country side of punk, and the punk side of country.

Wednesday, January 18th at 11AM: David Wilcox

One of the Asheville area's favorite singer/songwriters returns to Studio B for another engaging session of stories and songs.  We welcome back David Wilcox, performing in advance of his Saturday evening show at the Diana Wortham Theatre.  His latest project: a rerelease of cassette recordings from '79-'82!

Thursday, January 12th at 11AM: Abigail Washburn

Fresh back from their Silk Tour of China and Mongolia, Abigail Washburn and Kai Welch are in the area for a LEAF Outreach benefit at White Horse Black Mountain Thursday evening (with Casey Driessen).  Abigail's "City of Refuge" placed #10 in WNCW's Top 100 of 2011.  Fascinating videos of last fall's Silk Tour here.

Thursday, December 15th at 11am: Al Petteway & Amy White return to Studio B, this time as a prelude to their annual Swannanoa Solstice Holiday show in Asheville on Sunday.& Al & Amy weave contemporary Celtic- and Appalachian-influenced music with occasional nods to rock and jazz, on acoustic guitar, mandolin, Celtic harp, piano, banjo, lap dulcimer, & world percussion.
