Wednesday, November 28th at 5pm: THE SECRET B-SIDES

Nov 26, 2012

Just voted Best Soul Band in Asheville's Mountain XPress Readers' Poll, The Secret B-Sides visit Studio B.  Looks like Juan Holladay, Robin Tolleson, Shayne Heather, and Jeff K'norr will also be joined by the horn section of reggae band Common Foundation, too!  They have various gigs in Black Mountain, Hendersonville, and their hometown of Asheville these next two weeks.

Live this Friday at 3pm: SCRAPOMATIC

Nov 12, 2012

Scrapomatic returns to Studio B for another cool session before heading to Asheville. Paul Olsen and David Yoke join Mike Mattison (vocalist/songwriter for the Tedeschi Trucks Band) for a great blend of blues, soul, and rock on their latest release I'm a Stranger and I Love the Night

Thursday, November 15th at 4pm: OL' 74 JAZZ BAND

Nov 12, 2012

Ol' 74 Jazz Band is an 18-member (!) jazz ensemble from right here in Rutherford County that focuses on 1940's swing, but branches out into rock and other styles too. They are often found at the Barley's Taproom in Spindale on Thursdays, and we are excited to have them pile in to Studio B for their first live radio session with us!

Live this Friday at 3pm: ALLEN THOMPSON BAND

Nov 5, 2012

This country-soul roots-rock band from Nashville caught our attention this summer with their latest release "Salvation in the Ground."  We then discovered that one of the members (bassist Grayson Downs) is from nearby Lincolnton!  The Allen Thompson Band plays Black Mountain Friday night and Gaffney on Saturday night.

Thursday at 5pm: MARCO BENEVENTO

Nov 2, 2012

Jazz-based keyboardist Marco Benevento is one of the most innovative, dynamic keyboardists of our time.  He last visited us two years ago, and it was one of our favorite sessions of the year.  The story of his tricked-out 1927 upright piano (seen here) was just one of the highlights.

Tune in for what promises to be another great one.  He and his band play Black Mountain Thursday night and Knoxville on Friday.

What do you get when you combine a member of the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers, a gospel singer from Alamance County, and an expert vintage instrument restorer?  You get the Charleston old-time trio of The South Carolina Broadcasters, favorites of Sunday's "This Old Porch" show.  They bring their fiddle/banjo/guitar lineup to Studio B in advance of their Friday show in Fletcher and Saturday show in Saluda.
