Whether jamming with Zero, Bruce Hornsby, The Other Ones, Rhythm Devils, Ratdog, Phil & Friends, or with his own band, guitarist Steve Kimock dials it in whenever he's on stage. His latest tour includes giants Bernie Worrell, Andy Hess, and Wally Ingram among others backing him up. They play Asheville's Grey Eagle Wednesday night, and Kimock joins us in Studio B that afternoon with, at the very least, his guitar.
Yo Mamma's Big Fat Booty Band has gone through some wild changes since they began shakin' booties in Asheville in 2002. The current lineup has a new release: Lee Allen (drums), Mary Frances (keys, vocals), Greg Hollowell (tenor sax, bari sax, flute), Al Al Ingram (bass, vocals), Derrick Johnson (trombone), and JP Miller (guitar, vocals).
Fans of traditional Irish music are required to check out this trio: singer/guitarist John Doyle, fiddler Martin Hayes (six All-Ireland fiddle championships), and flutist Kevin Crawford (longtime member of Lunasa) make up The Teetotallers, playing the Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville Thursday evening.
It's always a treat when the incredible guitarist Geoff Achison is back in our area. A favorite among WNCW blues fans, he's back in Studio B in advance of shows in Asheville, Tryon, and elsewhere in the Southeast these next couple weeks.
