We'll check in with a 2006 Studio B session with Mark Johnson and Emory Lester, just before the release of the album “Acoustic Rising.” Mark has a very unique banjo style that has been dubbed “clawgrass” and Emory Lester is a master mandolin and guitar player. Also, we'll head up the mountain to Asheville for a 2003 live session on the road with the one-man jam band Keller Williams, who played tunes for us from his album “Laugh”,  including the WNCW classic, “Freeker by the Speaker.” Join Kim Clark this Friday evening and every Friday evening as she hosts Studio B Rewind on WNCW.

We'll listen to a couple of sessions that will be represented by tracks on our brand new Crowd Around The Mic Vol 21, and this show is a perfect example of the wide variety of music available on the two-cd compilation. We'll dive into the new wave techno sound of Lotus in Studio B this past January, and we'll sample some traditional Italian folk music by Mike Guggino and Barrett Smith in a session originally  broadcast from Isis Music Hall in Asheville.
