It's August, and that means it's time for the third annul round of Facebook Community Action Grants.  It's also time to make it official that Rutherford County's own Keven McKammon has been named the site manager for the Facebook Forest City Data Center.  On Monday, I spoke with Keven, who I have known from my previous life as a print journalist for the Daily Courier, and who has helped Rutherford County become more connected ever since I first met him several years ago.

The Facebook Data Center Site in Forest City, NC has announced it is accepting applications for the 2012 Community Action Grants. Pam Bunch spoke with Site Manager George Henry on Monday to discuss how organizations in Rutherford County can apply, the deadline for applications, and the types of organizations and ideas that Facebook is looking for in awarding $100,000 in grant money this year. This is the second year that Facebook/Forest City has awarded these grants, and they are very welcome in a county that has suffered severely from unemployment over the years of the recession.
