WNCW invites you to join us as a volunteer on Earth Day, April 22, to help build homes for Habitat For Humanity. WNCW staff will be on hand to take part, and City Bakery of Asheville will provide lunches for volunteers. Other dates are open to volunteer as well. More information online at ashevillehabitat.org.  To sign up, click on the events calendar at the top.

It's that time of year when most of us begin thinking about spring cleaning after the long winter, ECO-WNC will hold its second annual Earth Stewardship Day on April 27th.  Recently I spoke with Seirisse Baker, Water Quality Administrator for the Environmental and Conservation Organization of Western North Carolina, and she told me all of the projects that are scheduled for that day as well as where to find out about the other events being held to commemorate Earth Day.  Tune in on Friday at 8:50 a.m.

Morning Edition: On Tuesday, April 24 Michael Klare discusses - in the starkest of terms - whether the efforts and cash being expended to find the last reserves of oil, natural gas and minerals wouldn't better be spent trying to change our way of life before we totally use up all of the natural resources the planet Earth has left. Is there a better way?
