Singer/guitarist Riyen Roots and harmonica master Kenny Dore get into a good, strong blues groove when they team up. Based in Asheville, they have a number of local appearances coming up in Waynesville, Hickory, Saluda, and Asheville. Roots & Dore's latest album features help from "Steady Rollin'" Bob Margolin and David Holt.

New York brothers Eric and Leigh have those wonderful brotherly harmonies and shared intuition that really come out in bluegrass. Add to that Jesse Brock, Clayton Campbell, Mike Barber, & others who have teamed up with them, and you have one of the tightest bands in bluegrass today. They're back with a new release, and shows in Charlotte Thursday (Stage Door Theatre) and Asheville Friday (Isis Restaurant & Music Hall).

Charlotte's own Ancient Cities combines psychedelic fuzz, catchy pop, and indie-style rock, and has been getting some well-deserved national press recognition lately. Stephen Warwick, Justin Fedor, Justin Faircloth, & James Dulin make up the band, and we're glad to open Studio B's doors to them on Thursday.
