WNCW's Music Mix with Roland Dierauf

Weekdays 3pm to 6pm

Roland Dierauf wanders everyday through the cultural landscape that informs contemporary music.  Starting with the roots of early blues and country, he says hello to their many quirky offspring -- bluegrass, rock, alt country, jazz, funk, international rhythms, and all the endless hybrids.  It's music as big and varied and delightful as the people who make it.  Be a part of it, weekday afternoons on WNCW.

Ways to Connect

CORB LUND Live Friday, March 2nd at 4pm

Feb 23, 2018

The Alberta singer/songwriter/rancher who brought us such 'NCW favorites as "The Truck Got Stuck", "Horse Doctor Come Quick", and "Bible On the Dash" is on a somewhat rare solo tour that takes him to West Asheville's newest venue on Friday night, Ambrose West.

Click here to pledge for one of these new releases online or call 1-800-245-8870.

The Decemberists -- "I'll Be Your Girl"

Jimi Hendrix -- "Both Sides of the Sky"

John Prine -- "The Tree of Forgiveness"

Margo Price -- "All American Made"

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats -- "Tearing at the Seams"

Steep Canyon Rangers -- "Out in the Open"

The Wood Brothers -- "One Drop of Truth"

Two great musicians take the stage in West Asheville Wednesday evening, and we're excited to bring you a preview with both of them that afternoon. Phoebe Hunt showcased her great Texas/Americana jazz and swing foundation with the Belleville Outfit earlier this decade, and now she breaks out on her own with a new sound, inspired by some intensive study time in India. Dori Freeman impressed us with her first full-length album last year, and it sounds like her great Galax, Virginia foundation continues to show on her forthcoming album, too.

Nick Moss
Michael Heeschen

Let's kick off September with a blast of live blues! We will be live on the air with the Nick Moss Band from Charlotte's Neighborhood Theatre on Friday, September 1.  Moss explains his band's passion: "While modern and progressive blues has been an element to explore and incorporate into our shows, everything we do is based on traditional blues. Blues is first and foremost an American African art form and is America's gift to the world. Whether or not people realize it or acknowledge it, the root of all popular music goes back to the blues.”

FUNK RUSH Live Friday, August 18th at 3pm

Aug 16, 2017

This Charlotte band has their full-length debut release coming out on the 18th, and they'll celebrate with a return to Studio B. The Funk Rush is Scott Newell on guitar and bass, Donté Forsythe on drums, Rob Bowser on keyboards,  and Michael Pressley on trumpet (and whistling).
