Peak of the Week 6/22: Shannon McNally "Black Irish"

Jun 15, 2017

Shannon McNally "Black Irish" - It’s a wonder why this roots-blues-soul-singer isn’t more well-known. This wonderful collection of songs from a variety of sources (The Band, Stevie Wonder, Muddy Waters, Pops Staples), with a lot of help from Rodney Crowell, should help fix that.

Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ – TajMo – These two have each helped keep the blues alive, commercially at least, for the past couple of decades or more. They’ve worked together a bit in the past, but now they have a new studio collaboration and a big tour planned.

Sample a new release each week during Peak of the Week on Thursday nights starting at 9:00pm.

This week we feature Old Crow Medicine Show – 50 Years of Blonde On Blonde – You already figured Ketch and the guys in Old Crow were Dylan fans, especially with their “co-write” of his “Wagon Wheel.” But they immersed themselves further in his epic double-album, reworking arrangements and recording most of them live in Nashville to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
