CAT CLYDE Live Wednesday, June 21st at 11am

Jun 15, 2017

This new singer/songwriter from Ontario, Canada has a wonderfully fresh sound, but her influences draw from old-school legends like Patsy Cline, Bessie Smith, and Etta James. Maybe a little Janis Joplin, too?

THE FRETLESS Live Thursday, June 15th at 11am

Jun 10, 2017

Three violinists and a cellist comprise this wonderful quartet that blends Celtic, folk, and chamber music seamlessly (and fretlessly.) They recently won Canada's JUNO Award for Best Instrumental Album, and we are so happy to welcome them back to WNCW's Studio B for their second visit. They play West Asheville on Thursday and Hickory on Friday.

LILLIE MAE Live Friday, June 2nd at 11am

May 31, 2017

We love discovering exciting and talented new acts here, and one of the most recent ones is one Jack White and Third Man Records have as well, the captivating singer/songwriter/violinist/guitarist Lillie Mae. She's on tour (including some dates with Pokey LaFarge) in support of her terrific new album Forever And Then Some, and plays Charlotte on Friday, and Asheville on June 25th.

THE MOON & YOU Live Friday, May 19th at 11am

May 17, 2017
THE MOON & YOU
Michelle Sarkissian

Asheville's The Moon & You are Melissa Hyman on cello, and Ryan Furstenberg on guitar and banjo. Warm, silly, melodic, intelligent...these are a few words that help describe their sound. They're one of the acts set to play the inaugural Xpand Fest in Asheville on June 10th.

TIME SAWYER Live Wednesday, May 17th at 11am

May 12, 2017

Guitarist Sam Tayloe and banjo player Houston Norris share a love for the rural  home themes of Tom Sawyer, plus perhaps a desire to remain in the present with an eye towards the future; hence the name of their band that usually includes other good musicians from the Charlotte area. They bring their Americana/folk-rock sound to Studio B for the first time on Wednesday.
