Monday Night May 20th at 8pm: LEFTOVER SALMON - Bridges to Bert

"Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass"!  It just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?  And it flowed effortlessly when the jamband Leftover Salmon brought their self-described style to packed venues, most notably in their home state of Colorado, and in our Southeastern Appalachian corner of the country.  This album from 1992 was their recording debut for their fans, having first formed in 1989 when Vince Herman's band the Salmon Heads asked some members of the Left Hand String Band (mandolinist Drew Emmitt and the late banjo pioneer Mark Vann) to sit in.  Join us for this 21-year-old flashback, as we ge

Monday Night May 13th at 8pm: STEVIE WONDER - Innervisions

Drugs, spirituality, politics,  urban living...Topics that are certainly relevant in today's world, but they became heavy themes of the late '60's and early '70's, for sure.  And they loom large in Stevie Wonder's 1973 masterpiece, Innervisions, with memorable songs like "Too High", "Living For the City", "Higher Ground", and "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing".  Hey Stevie!  Happy Birthday to ya!  We'll be celebrating all day on WNCW.

Monday Night April 29th at 8pm: GEORGE JONES - My Very Special Guests

"The King of Broken Hearts", "No Show Jones", "Possum"....whatever you call him, George Jones was one of the greatest singers in country and any genre of music, with #1 hits from the '50's through the '90's.  As he was known for such outstanding duets with other great singers over the years (most notably his former wife Tammy Wynette), we continue our tribute to Jones Monday night with his 1979 album of duets with Waylon, Willie, Emmylou, Mavis, and others that you'll recognize and/or be surprised to recognize.  The album was reissued in a 2-CD set in 2005; we've got the original LP, plus s

Monday Night April 15th at 8pm: WIDESPREAD PANIC - Space Wrangler

It's our 2nd week in a row to feature an  '80's Athens, GA favorite for our Spindale Cycle.  This time it's the premier Southern rock/jamband, with their debut full-length.  Revered as their best -- or at least an essential collection -- by many fellow Spreadheads, Space Wrangler was released in 1988 on the tiny Landslide Record label, before graduating to Capricorn.  Celebrate John Bell's 4/14 birthday with an hour of Panic this Monday!
