Spindale Cycle™

Mondays at 8pm

A classic album played in its entirety, because some albums are meant to be played all the way through. (Regrettably, due to Recording Industry Association of America restrictions, The Spindale Cycle is not available online)

It's probably fair to say there would be no WNCW if not for the creativity, virtuosity, and success of this humble gentleman from nearby Deep Gap, NC.  The seamless blend of folk, blues, bluegrass, and mountain music that is Doc Watson's trademark is captured on this 1991 album, in good company with Jack Lawrence, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, T. Michael Coleman, & others.

Join us as we celebrate the birthdays this week of Bob Dylan (Thursday) and the late Levon Helm (Saturday) by playing the 2nd half of this legendary 1974 live recording from these two greats.

Tune in as we spin this classic album in honor of Dusty's birthday this week!

This 1972 recording (which wasn't officially released until nearly 20 years later) captures Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, & Butch Hancock swapping songs back during their days together in Lubbock, Texas.  Tune in for this folk/country classic, as we celebrate Gilmore's birthday (May 6th)as well as Hancock's Asheville concert (May 11th.)

An American original, Texas bluesman Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown is our feature Monday night, with one of the strongest albums of his career, "Alright Again!". Gatemouth would be 88 this Wednesday.  "Frosty", "Alligator Boogaloo", and more for The Spindale Cycle.

It's their legendary 1962 concert in its entirety, in honor of the late Earl Scruggs.
