Peak Of The Week™

The band that struck big with their '09 debut's instant hit "Home" is back with another collection of (potential) sing-alongs like "I Don't Wanna Pray" and "Man On Fire".  Alex Ebert remains at the helm of this dozen-or-so psychedelic/folk-inspired collective, but take note of the increasing presence of fellow singer Jade Castrinos, especially on songs like "Fiya Wata". 

The former fiddler for Nickel Creek has a new solo release that is her strongest one yet.  Featuring her brother Sean, plus Benmont Tench, Jackson Browne, & Fiona Apple, Sun Midnight Sun also features some great new collaborative songwriting from Sara and producer Blake Mills.  Tune in as we track through the entire album Thursday night!  

One of our favorite new, "undiscovered" voices these last few years, Ryan Montbleau has a new release called "For Higher."  This time, the Boston singer/songwriter/bandleader went down to a New Orleans studio to record with George Porter Jr. on bass, Ivan Neville on keys, Anders Osborne on guitar and Simon Lott on drums.  It's our feature on this Thursday evening's music mix.
