May 13th through 17th, Montreat, NC hosts the 8th Annual SERFA Conference: the Southeast Regional Chapter of Folk Alliance International. One of the performers this year is Lyal Strickland, a folk/Americana singer who lives and breathes the life of small town/rural midwest America. A native of Buffalo, Missouri, Lyal's primary vocation for most of his life has been running the family cattle farm. But he has also forged a singer/songwriter career, and recorded an album this past year with (founding) members of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and the Hillbenders among others. Scotty spends the 1pm hour in Studio B with Lyal before his week long residency in Montreat.
