Thursday Night January 22nd between 9pm and Midnight: CRACKER - Berkeley to Bakersfield

He may have been technically born in Texas, but you would be justified in assuming David Lowery was a true-blue Californian. Camper Van Beethoven has recorded a pair of concept albums about California (La Costa Perdida, about NoCal, and El Camino Real, centered around SoCal.) And now his other band Cracker has released this double-album, with Berkeley focusing on the bohemia-meets-boomtown dichotomy of the Bay Area, and inland Bakersfield celebrating the West's country music Ground Zero. This can easily be considered Cracker's best offering since 1993's Kerosene Hat, with Johnny Hickman, Davey Faragher, Michael Urbano, and Lowery sounding better than ever, plus strong contributions from Matt Stoessell on pedal steel and Luke Moeller on fiddle for Bakersfield. Listen to tunes from both throughout Thursday night, and see where you'd feel most at home.
