Thursday Night the 30th between 9pm and Midnight: LUCINDA WILLIAMS

After a long tenure with Lost Highway Records (following some tumultuous times with big industry labels in her first few years, including 1998's epic Car Wheels on a Gravel Road), Lucinda has finally released an album on her own label, Highway 20. It's her first studio album in four years, so she has opened up the floodgates of her muse with 20 new songs that range from living in extreme poverty, to gross injustice, to spirituality, to the myriad aspects of what seems to be her expertise in songwriting, love: found and lost.  Pete Thomas and Davey Faragher of Elvis Costello's Imposters hold down the rhythm section along with producer Greg Leisz, and she has an army of notable guitarists in Bill Frisell, Tony Joe White, and (Forest City's own!) Jonathan Wilson among others. We'll fit as much of this fine double-disc return into our Thursday night mix as we can. Tune in!
