Thursday Night the 20th between 9pm and Midnight: JACKSON BROWNE - Standing in the Breach

Jackson Browne has been consistent in his craft since his 1972 self-titled debut, in which he hit the ground running with "Doctor My Eyes", "Take It Easy", "Rock Me On the Water", and "Jamaica Say You Will". His career goes back to the late 60's, too, with songwriting for Tom Rush, Nico, Linda Rondstadt, and The Byrds. He is not afraid to sing his opinions, either. You may say he's a dreamer....but he is also an activist: an artist who walks his talk. After so many years of working for what he believes in -- freedom, compassion, generosity, sustainability -- you'd think he might have given up. But as he sings in the title track here, "You don't know why, but you still try/For the world you wish to see." This album is his first of new material in six years, and includes support from Dawes, Benmont Tench, and Jim Keltner (and love-letter lyrics from Woody Guthrie.) Listen for songs that borrow from/are inspired by Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody", Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane", and his own "Take It Easy".
