In 2007, M.C. Taylor left his native Southern California to move to North Carolina and get his Masters in Folklore at UNC-Chapel Hill. He and his growing family call Durham home these days, and he has released his 5th album -- first for Merge Records -- under the name Hiss Golden Messenger. The band's sound of folk, country-rock, R&B and more is fleshed out with the help of longtime partner Scott Hirsch on bass, mandolin, and pedal steel, Terry Lonergan on drums, and others. Taylor is a wonderful 21st Century storyteller; none other than David Bowie has praised his songs as "mystical". Get to know them as Rob features this great new one on Thursday night.
