Morning Edition 6/19 at 8:50am: THE 2012 INDIANAPOLIS PRIZE FOR GLOBAL ANIMAL CONSERVANCY

Polar Bears!

The Indianapolis Prize is an award given to an individual conservationist who has made significant achievements across the globe in advancing the sustainability of an animal species or group of species. The award was created to honor them, their stories, and inspire others to join them on a lifelong quest to save what can never be replaced. The prize is awarded every two years, and the $100,000 award represents the largest individual monetary award for animal conservation in the world. Last week, Pam Bunch talked with the winner of the 2012 Indianapolis Prize, as well as Michael Crowther, President and CEO of the Indianapolis Zoo.
