We take you back to this legendary NYC venue on Feb. 21st, 1954, between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. to be specific, for this tight lineup that would officially become Art's Jazz Messengers the next year. This great time capsule of bop & modern jazz has Horace Silver on piano, Clifford Brown on trumpet, Lou Donaldson on sax, and Curly Russell on bass. As you'll hear Art exclaim during it, "Wow! First time I enjoyed a record session!" The 10-minute "A Night in Tunisia" can easily be considered the definitive version of that classic. By the way, Volume 2 has almost as many high points, and Sander will round out the hour with a bit of it as well.
