WNCW's first Program Director was Greg Hils, a primary architect of the unique music format we still follow nearly 25 years later. Greg passed away Tuesday, May 20, and we would like to dedicate this week's Spindale Cycle to his legacy. He had a deep love for jazz, and for the many regional acts of our area, but some of his close friends have said his favorite band was Steely Dan, so we'll spin 1974's Pretzel Logic in his honor. And we'll round out the hour with selections from bassist Charlie Haden & the Liberation Music Orchestra's 1991 album Dream Keeper; Greg loved to play bass too, and this album draws from various human rights inspirations (Langston Hughes, MLK, African National Congress, Latin American freedom fighters), which Greg was also passionate about. Thank you for your many creative inspirations, Greg.
