Monday Night March 9th at 8pm: CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG - Deja Vu

March 11th this week marks the 45th anniversary of the release of this standard among "supergroups", one of the most highly anticipated releases considering each of the artists' ascendance in their careers at the time; CSN's breakthrough was a hit, and this follow-up, with the addition of Neil Young, was expected to be an even bigger one. And it was, on the charts, on Best Of lists, and in sales (7 million in the U.S. alone). It wasn't a 4-part collaboration in every sense of the word -- most of the songs were made as individual sessions by the authors of each of the songs, with participation from others as schedules and interests allowed. But the songs themselves, and the arrangements, make for a cohesive album of memorable hits that have held up well over time. Stephen Stills' "Carry On", Graham Nash's "Teach Your Children" and "Our House", David Crosby's title track and "Almost Cut My Hair", Neil Young's "Helpless"....We've aired this as a Spindale Cycle a couple times before, and it's worth spinning again.
