This 1973 release was one of country music's first "concept albums", and stayed on the Billboard country charts for 30 weeks. He collaborated with Shel Silverstein (yes, of Where the Sidewalk Ends, The Giving Tree, etc.!) for most of the songwriting here, adding his wonderful, signature sense of humor to these songs of assorted American tall tales and myths. Spend Bobby Bare's birthday evening with him, and Paul Bunyan, Marie Laveau, The Mermaid, and other characters. Oh, and we debut his son Bobby Bare Jr.'s new release earlier Monday for "New Tunes at 2"!
