Monday Night the 24th at 8pm -- BILL MORRISSEY - Night Train

With his easy-going style, and imagery-rich songs depicting hope, despair, and small-town life, Bill Morrissey was a favorite of the folk singer scene of the '80's and '90's, including many of us here at WNCW. We celebrate his November 25th birthday with this album from 20 years ago. In comparing Night Train with his previous five releases, music critic Richard Myer wrote, "The sound on this album is more stripped down, as basic as a Lou Reed record, and just as effective." Following a string of solo albums, Morrissey teamed up with Greg Brown for a duo album in 1993 and a tribute to Mississippi John Hurt in '99, before passing away in 2011. This fall, fellow New Englander Mark Erelli released a tribute album to him called Milltowns.
