Monday Night the 20th at 8pm: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN & DOUBLE TROUBLE - In Step

We continue our spotlight on 1989 releases for the Spindale Cycle as we celebrate our 25th anniversary this month, with this 5-star blues crossover release. Vaughan had established himself as a powerful force with his 4 or 5 previous releases, but this one was the first to really showcase his own songwriting (co-writes with Doyle Bramhall on "The House is Rockin'", "Tightrope", "Scratch-n-Sniff"), and one of his most revered albums. As critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote, "The magnificent thing about In Step is how it's fully realized, presenting every facet of Vaughan's musical personality, yet it still soars with a sense of discovery. It's a bittersweet triumph, given Vaughan's tragic death a little over a year after its release, yet it's a triumph all the same."
