Georgia's Packway Handle Band is rooted in old-school bluegrass, but you will no doubt hear their nods to rock, punk, and more as well. For their latest project, they recruited the talented, one-of-a-kind Southern songwriter Jim White to put on his producer's hat, but he ended up lending everything but the kitchen sink in what can be truly be called a full-scale collaboration. Esquire has ranked their new song "Jim 3:16" as one of the best songs of the month, if only for the line "a bar is just a church where they serve beer." They play Asheville on Thursday night and Charlotte on Friday night.
