The common thread that unites, and primary spark that inspires, Bryan Sutton, David Holt, and T. Michael Coleman is the music of Doc Watson. Holt and Coleman each toured with him for over a dozen years, and all three have each won a Grammy with him. "We bend the tradition, but we don’t break it,” said Holt. “We are not copying, we’re using Doc as a guidepost." Their music is really a tribute to Western North Carolina roots music in general, and the collective knowledge of it that they possess is priceless. Holt is a tireless storyteller, historian, and TV host; Sutton is a 5 time IBMA Guitar Player of the Year; Coleman is an award-winning filmmaker and former member of Chesapeake and The Seldom Scene. WNCW is honored to host the trio for a live session on Thursday. They play in Tryon Friday night.
