His songs have been covered by Little Feat, Todd Snider, & Jimmy Buffett among others, and he's lent his skills to such diverse top-tier talents as Rosanne Cash, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Gomez, Emmylou Harris, the Jayhawks, Mark Knopfler, Buddy Miller, John Prine, Toumani Diabate, and Mavis Staples. When he last visited us, he was the Willie in that great Gulf Coast group Willie Sugarcapps. But he's got a string of his own albums too, and is in the area for shows in Black Mountain Friday, Balsam Saturday, and Asheville Sunday.
