You can tell Woody Pines likes to mine through old '78's whenever he knows there's a record store nearby. Like Pokey LaFarge, Old Crow Medicine Show, and other "retro"-sounding acts, he breathes new, vibrant life into those vintage sounds of Woody Guthrie, early Dylan, and all those great swing and juke-joint bands of yesteryear. He and his band return to his former home of Asheville Friday night, and they play Waynesville on Saturday. We love his new self-titled record on Muddy Roots Music.
