A founding member and integral contributor to the Old Crow Medicine Show, Willie Watson has now embarked on a solo career, in addition to work with the Dave Rawlings Machine. His new album Folk Singer Vol. 1 is on Gillian & Dave's Acony Record label, and is a nice collection of folk standards and obscure gems on banjo and guitar. Watson joins Martin Anderson Friday morning, and we'll spin a number of songs from it before he heads to the Five String Fest in Lawndale. He also plays The Grey Eagle in Asheville Saturday night with Mandolin Orange.
