Twenty years ago, WNCW signed off the air at 2 a.m. each weekday before coming back on air at 6 a.m. in the morning. A group from Charlotte came over to Spindale and changed all that in the fall of 1992, bringing ARC Overnight to the airwaves and making WNCW a 24-hour station.
Join us as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Alternative Radio Coalition with a live show the night of October 6th. Host "Mad Dog" Sherrill Ward, who co-hosted that first full all-nighter, will host a show that looks back over the decades to highlight some of the music and stories from ARC's early history.
ARC Overnight director Joe Kendrick and anchor host Rob Daves will be featuring interviews with former ARC Overnight hosts and founding members on Rob's shows leading up to the anniversary date. Stay tuned to the WNCW website for announcements of those specials, and save the date of October 6th for both the ARC Overnight 20th anniversary as well as the start of our Fall on-air fundraiser!
