With all eyes on London because of  the Queen's Jubilee and the upcoming Olympics, Pam Bunch has three stories with a connection to London beginning with the story of how Rutherford County, NC, native Sloane Whiteside got the opportunity to go to London to serve as an intern to the NBC Broadcast Team during the Olympics. Whiteside is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, a Morehead Scholar and is one determined young woman. Tune in to hear Whiteside speak for herself about where she comes from and where she's going.

This week, Pam Bunch is focusing on the small business sector by talking with and about people who have a dream to own their own businesses.  To do this, she is talking to individuals who used the services of the Small Business Center at Isothermal Community College. Bunch will also talk to the director of the SBC, who can talk about what to expect when you come into the Small Business Center for help.

Living And Working To The Music and News On WNCW

As a loyal member for many years, I listen all day at work and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. 

In 1989 my husband climbed on top of our two story bike shop building to put up an antenna just to hear WNCW all day.  We also raised 3 kids on WNCW.  Two live in West Asheville, one is a musician in Florida, and all three have great taste in music.

Morning Edition Friday, June 22: FACEBOOK FOREST CITY SITE OFFERS 2012 COMMUNITY ACTION GRANTS

The Facebook Data Center Site in Forest City, NC has announced it is accepting applications for the 2012 Community Action Grants. Pam Bunch spoke with Site Manager George Henry on Monday to discuss how organizations in Rutherford County can apply, the deadline for applications, and the types of organizations and ideas that Facebook is looking for in awarding $100,000 in grant money this year. This is the second year that Facebook/Forest City has awarded these grants, and they are very welcome in a county that has suffered severely from unemployment over the years of the recession.
