Live this Friday at 4pm: THE APRIL SESSIONS

The April Sessions is a quartet of familiar Asheville musicians, essentially a jazz piano trio with Dobro.  Billy Cardine, Chris Rosser, Zack Page and River Guerguerian came together for a benefit concert a couple years ago (The Odyssey Community School in Asheville), and were subsequently inspired to record an album that April that was, according to their liner notes, "imaginative, live, and without the use of a click track."  No question they'll feel right at home during their live session in Studio B!  Their CD release show is Saturday night at The Altamont.

Morning Edition on 4/22: DENIM DAY IN HAYWOOD

On Wednesday, April 24th, it's Denim Day in Haywood County. No, it's not just another 'casual' day. It's a day dedicated to remember the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  The story of how it came to be referred to as "Denim Day" is truly amazing. This is not a story for the very young, but it's a story that has to be told. Tune in Monday, April 22 at 8:50 am to hear this very important interview with Buffy Queen, Community Educator with Reach of Haywood.

Live this Thursday the 25th at 11am: COMAS

The word "Comas" translates from Irish Gaelic as "Power," and it describes their own driving power coupled with a fine sensitivity for the inner strands of magic that is inherent in Irish music.  This quartet has been making music for ten years now, especially in various venues throughout Ireland, Brittany, Belgium, and the US, from which they each hail.  Tune in for a powerful session Thursday morning before they play Asheville that evening!

The Knoxville band featuring the formidable songwriting of Cruz Contreras, singer Trisha Gene Brady, multi-instrumentalist Tom Pryor, bass player Robert Richards and drummer Jamie Cook is back with its third strong release.  Dynamic, lyrical, multi-dimensional...no doubt one of the strongest regional albums this year, and well worth featuring throughout our Thursday night mix!
