Monday Night 2/11 at 8pm: PROFESSOR LONGHAIR - Rock 'N' Roll Gumbo

An iconic figure of New Orleans music history, an inspiration to Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John among others, it's The Fess!  He spent time as a cook, a boxer, a soldier, and a professional cardplayer among other things, but we know him as the pianist who gave us THE anthem for Mardi Gras.  Join us on Fat Tuesday eve for some Rock 'n' Roll Gumbo that'll get you in the mood.  Yea you right!

Our favorite Charleston, SC five-piece band sails back through our area this Friday for a lively live set before their Greenville concert.  This time they've got a boatload of new material, on an album called Underdog.  To quote their site, "Sol Driven Train’s music weaves through genres like images in a Tom Robbins paragraph."  There you go.

The personal merges with the political on Erin McKeown's latest release, "Manifestra".  Drum loops, layered vocals and synthesizers merge with her electric guitar and other studio tricks, but there is also an accompanying all-solo-acoustic collection of these new songs.  Guest singers include Ryan Montbleau, Anais Mitchell, Sean Hayes, and David Wax Museum.
