How BJ Leiderman First Tuned Into WNCW...And Why He Is Still Listening

BJ Leiderman loves this station

I was traveling to Asheville to visit my old summer camp in Hendersonville. I was tuning through the FM dial when I stopped at a song that blew my mind and that I thought sounded very Beatlesque.

When I heard your station break I was stunned I was getting an Asheville station, as I had just recently crossed over the Virginia-North Carolina line. Turns out I was getting the feed from one of your repeater antennas! Very cool!

Confront and Conceal book cover

NY Times Chief Washington Correspondent and author, David Sanger, has followed up his first work on President Obama, "The Inheritance" which came out about three years ago. In this book,  Sanger describes how Obama has had to adapt to deal with a world on fire - first dealing with the two wars he inherited - while trying to do something about economic recession at home, and the ramp-up of Iran's race for nuclear weapons. This eye-opening book is as exciting and thrilling as a good spy movie. But truth is stranger than fiction.

David Leading Doc Watson

David Holt accompanied Doc Watson both on and off stage from 1998 until Doc's death two weeks ago, though they first worked together (with Merle) in 1984.  Any of us who have seen Doc perform these last 14 years can credit David for that wonderful opportunity.  The multi-instrumentalist, storyteller, PBS host, and all-around roots music advocate spends an hour reminiscing about one of our greatest inspirations, spinning tunes from both Doc and some of Doc's own early inspirations.
