Liverpool’s Robert Vincent grew up on the American genres of country and blues, as well as English-oriented ‘70s rock acts (and probably those fellow Liverpudlians from the ‘60s and beyond.) His latest album Barriers is his 4th, establishing him further as one of the strongest new voices among Americana and singer/songwriter musicians. His previous album won the Americana Music Association UK’s ‘Album of The Year’ award for 2021. Receiving critical acclaim, the record also charted at Number 2 in the UK Americana Charts and American Songwriter Magazine named it in its top 20 albums (every genre) of 2020. On his new album, Vincent stated, “Barriers has more of an intimate sound. The songs began to take shape during lockdown through to 2022 and are born from testing personal experiences, rather than the pure social commentary of the last album. This is a very inward set of songs, but I think it will resonate with people facing their own demons.” He performed last week at AmericanaFest in Nashville, and pays us a brief visit before heading back home for a string of shows in England.

Mac’s 2021 album introduced South Carolinian Mac Leaphart to us, and got him into the Americana Top 40 charts. Two years later, he returned to the studio, again with producer Brad Jones, Fats Kaplin, Matt Menefee, and Kenny Vaughan among others, to start work on his newest release Motel Breakfast. "I'm a real big fan of how Jerry Jeff Walker's albums sound," Leaphart explains. “They sound like a bunch of guys rolled out of bed, hungover, then stumbled into a studio and pressed record. I'm always going for that laid back vibe. I want it to be real loose and fun.” Mission accomplished! He plays at Swanson's Warehouse for a Fall For Greenville After Party on October 11th.

It’s some Asheville bluegrass for your Monday morning, courtesy of this band that formed in 2019. Andrew Blythe on banjo, Nick Dauphinais on mandolin, Celia Millington-Wyckoff on bass, and Rob Sine on guitar. All four join in on the three-part harmonies they’re known for. Members of the group have played with the late Bobby Hicks, Josh Goforth, Mountain Faith, Larry Stephenson, and the Darren Nicholson Band. They released their album Flick of Love this May. Area shows include Black Mountain Center For the Arts on October 5th, and 185 King Street in Brevard on the 17th.
