Winds of Winter AmiciMusic Debuts the Brevard Woodwind Quintet Sunday, January 14 - 2:00 p.m.- AmiciMusic Presents the Brevard Woodwind Quintet. Chamber music. $18 advance/ $20 door Winter winds aren’t always bitter. In fact, they can warm your heart in the guise of the new Brevard Woodwind Quintet, which will give its debut performance at the White Horse Black Mountain on Sunday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. under the AmiciMusic aegis. The Brevard Woodwind Quintet was assembled from some of the finest chamber music players in Western North Carolina. They met recently while performing with the Brevard Philharmonic Orchestra and decided to further pursue the rich possibilities of the woodwind quintet configuration. Members of the Quintet include Leonard Lapatin on flute, oboist Andrew Parker, Steve Loew on clarinet, bassoonist Will Peebles and Hobart Whitman on French Horn. The program features lighter selections from the woodwind quintet literature by Danzi, Ibert and Arnold. The Quintet will be joined by AmiciMusic pianist and Music Director Daniel Weiser for the powerful Romantic Piano Quintet, a nearly forgotten Austrian composer who worked in the lush tradition of Brahms and Richard Strauss.
