An inspiration to MLK with her family band during the Civil Rights Era, a show-stealer for The Band's star-studded The Last Waltz, near-fiancee to Bob Dylan.... Mavis Staples remains an icon of change, and one of the best voices of America's conscience. She made some changes once again in 2010 when she collaborated with Wilco's Jeff Tweedy for the Grammy-winning You Are Not Alone, and she continues that great partnership with this new release.

First of all, I must warn that this book is INTENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES due to adult situations. The second thing I must stress is that this book is a work of fiction. But for anyone that has passed through or lives in Rutherford County, NC, it certainly could be true, because it is based on historical fact as well as legends that have been passed on through the generations ever since the late 1700's when the story began.
Monday night the 25th, we celebrate the birthday of the late singer-songwriter Steve Goodman with a concert recorded 8/14/78 at an intimate Chicago nightclub that was the launching pad for Goodman, his close friend John Prine, and others. Goodman was among the first to bring a witty sense of humor, engaging storytelling, and variety of guitar styles to the otherwise more monotone folksinger style of the day. Enjoy his captivating stage presence as we spotlight him for your Spindale Cycle.
